A Look into the Humans of UNF: Katie Vossman

Coffee is her ultimate goal and saving lives is her pastime. Katie Vossman is a sophomore at UNF and is pursuing a business management degree. She plans on running her own business one day. While in school, she dreams of owning a coffee shop and works for Osprey Miracle, an organization that raises funds for life-saving treatments for children in hospitals.

One day, she hopes to own a coffee shop fit for studying and relaxing.

“I always loved going into a coffee shop because I love the vibe. I always get work done and enjoy coffee,” said Vossman.

Owning a business is a daunting challenge, but Vossman is ready to get to it and create an atmosphere for students and professionals alike to feel comfortable while getting mountains of work done, perhaps with continual jolts of caffeine.

“I wanted to own my own business and it’s a perfect way to,” said Vossman. She is really connected with the community and dreams of creating a space where people can do work and enjoy the atmosphere.

When she isn’t dreaming about a coffee shop, Katie Vossman is saving lives. As the operations chair of Osprey Miracle, she fundraises money to help children in hospitals. Osprey Miracle works with Wolfson Children’s Hospital and UF Health Jacksonville and continues to provide little miracles for the children. Vossman works closely with the organization and is on campus trying to raise money.

She sold candygrams in advance on Valentine’s Day and helped orchestrate the biggest event of the semester for the organization. The Osprey Miracle dance marathon requires everyone to stand for six hours for the kids while continuing to raise money.

“All the money that we raise helps them with medicines, treatments, anything that they really need,” Vossman said.
